Abstract

TIG welding is one of the widely used welding processes in manufacturing industries. In any of the welding processes, many factors play a vital role in obtaining strength of welding joint like bead geometry. So, there is need of optimizing the TIG process for a better so in this paper optimization of various TIG parameters have been done like bead geometry, penetration, and HAZ (Heat Affected Zones) on the basis of input parameters like current, voltage and welding speed. And optimization has been done by using Taguchi method by using L 9 orthogonal array and then by applying various calculation of Taguchi Method and then verifying it by using grey relation analysis. The optimization will provide the best result by giving the best combination of input levels as we are using three levels input system. The highest level of S/N ratio decides the best combination of inputs and hence the optimized result is obtained.
