Seismic Analysis of G+10 Building With and Without Zipper Brace Frame

This paper presents a seismic analysis of a G+10 building with and without Zipper Brace Frame (ZBF). The research begins with a detailed literature review, investigating the existing seismic-resistant techniques employed in high-rise buildings. The Zipper Brace Frame is introduced as an innovative system that has shown promising results in enhancing seismic performance while maintaining architectural aesthetics. Two analytical models are created: one without bracing systems and the other incorporating the Zipper Brace Frame. The seismic analysis is performed using E-tab software capable of simulating dynamic response under different seismic excitations. The seismic performance evaluation includes several key aspects: story drifts, lateral displacements and base shear. The results of the seismic analysis are thoroughly compared and discussed to identify the structural behaviour differences between the without zipper bracing system and the ZBF. Emphasis is placed on the performance of the ZBF in minimizing inter-story drifts, reducing floor accelerations, and enhancing overall building stability during seismic events. Through this comparative study, the seismic effectiveness of the Zipper Brace Frame is validated, and its potential advantages over conventional lateral bracing systems are highlighted. The findings of this research contribute to the knowledge of seismic-resistant technologies and can aid structural engineers and designers in making informed decisions for designing safer and more resilient high-rise buildings in seismic-prone regions.References
