E-Shaped Microstrip Patch Antenna for High Speed Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Applications

A microstrip antenna consisting of E-shape radiating patch having low profile, probe-fed is designed and proposed for wireless local area networks (WLAN) applications. All countries use different WLAN, as the antennas available are not able to cover all the standards. This study aims to design a smallest antenna with better polarization covering all high speed WLAN standards ranging from 4.47 to 5.82 GHz. The patch antenna designed on low cost (Dielectric constant =2.2 mm) of thickness h=3 mm having a size of 16 mm×35 mm. The reflection coefficient at the input of the optimized E shaped microstrip patch antenna over the entire frequency band is below −10 dB. The proposed antenna is simulated by using the IE3d simulation software based on MoM gives the outcomes based on S11 parameter, VSWR, gain and directivity which are proved to be beneficial in analyzing the performance of antenna.
