Mechanical Properties of High Performance Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete with Super Plasticizer
Abstract
High performance concrete (HPC) has been used in various structures all over the world since last two decades. Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) is a relatively new type of building material and it is being increasingly used in different countries. Glass-fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) is a material made of a cementitious matrix composed of cement, sand, water and admixtures, in which short length glass fibres are dispersed. The usage of discrete glass fibre with concrete provides enhancement the ductility and deformability. It has been widely used in the construction industry for non-structural elements, like façade panels, piping and channels. GRC offers many advantages, such as; being lightweight, fire resistance, good appearance and strength. In this paper, adding glass fibres by 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2% to produce HPC. Hardened Glass Fibre Reinforced High Performance Concrete (GFRHPC) is tested for compression, split tension and flexural strengths. The results are quite high for use of Glass fibres in High Performance Concrete.
