Structural Design of Prestressed Concrete Box Girder
Abstract
Bridge Structure is used to carry over the roadway within urban and suburban areas. A bridge structure is basically a facility that connects many busy places through a common route to reducing the traffic volume. Planning and Construction of such structure are very much important in modern times as we notice that majority of the Metropolitan Cities in India are on the verge of getting saturated due to Urbanization. The main aim of the present research work is to study the structural behavior of 50 meters boxed girder bridge under various loading conditions for the roadway system. The structural loads are considered as per Indian Road Congress (IRC). Modeling of box girder is carried out by using eight node iso parametric element using a computer program. The structural behavior of Box girder is observed for principal stresses for a load combination as per IRC. Prestressing is design for maximum tensile stresses in a structure as a system to enhance the performance.
