Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this study are evaluating the efficiency of low cost adsorbents of activated carbon obtained from sea grasses. Using the sea grasses for the removal of some industrial organic dye; bromo cresol purple indicators from aqueous solutions and studying the impact of some of the factors including different dosages ,  pH, different concentrations, different temperature and effect of time of adsorbed materials. Adsorption efficiency of dye onto activated carbon increase in contact time till reached equilibrium. Increase in adsorbent dose led to % removal while decrease in adsorption capacity. The adsorption process was highly pH dependent. The optimum pH for adsorption onto adsorbent at 5 which the percentage of removal was 78.82%. While the result showed the  high adsorbent value of  ( 77.17% ) was recorded at 50˚C.  Using different concentrations of dye, the percentage values were ranged between (78.20 - 78.88%). the results recorded that the adsorption rate increasing with the increasing of time where at 50 min the percentage was (96.34%). The effect of dose of (0.5g) gave relative high  removal percentage of (78.01 %).
