Abstract

In this paper, S-CSRR (Square-Complementary Split Ring Resonator) Planar Inverted F Antenna model is designed and simulated in the HFSS software. For compact and portable devices being preferred in 5G technology, the proposed antenna is helpful. The PIFA antenna with metamaterials (MTM) is beneficial for 4G and 5G wireless communication applications and covers C-band frequencies. The C-band frequency range of 3300-4200 MHz and 4400-5000 MHz is used in the research. CSRR are part of metamaterial family. The reasons of using CSRR with antenna is illustrated in the paper. The simulation results for the various antenna parameters are demonstrated using the HFSS software. The resonant frequencies are 3.7 GHz and 7.7 GHz and thus makes a dual band antenna. The radiation pattern is nearly omni-directional. A size reduction of 8% in the patch element of the antenna design is observed. The proposed antenna has enhanced antenna gain and bandwidth. The dual band PIFA will be useful to 5G usage for military, broadcasting and maritime mobile in near future. The S-CSRR PIFA can have 5G specific applications such as IoT, MIMO and mission critical applications
