Abstract

Designing small antennas for 5G millimeter wave bands is an emerging research subject in the wireless communication age. This research paper describes the design, simulation, and measurement of a micro-strip patch antenna operating at high frequency, 38 GHz. The substrate material used is FR4 proxy due to its easy availability and cost with the dielectric constant 3.8 to 4.6. The analysis and simulation are done on Ansys HFSS Software. The suggested antenna measures 6.2 x 7.4 x 0.035 mm and resonates at 38 GHz, with a measured return loss of nearly -40 dB which is comparatively lower as compared to other antennas. The achieved VSWR of 1.1. The measurement findings suggest that the proposed design is suitable for 5G wireless applications in the millimeter wave range.
