Microgrid Stability and Control Issues: A Review

Abstract


Microgrid are the key solution to implement Smart Grid for integration of renewable and distributed energy resources. This paper presents a discussion on the stability and control issues of microgrid with their solution and it Investigates some aspects of stability in microgrids and A hierarchical coordination strategy with primary, secondary, and tertiary coordination are reviewed for economic operation of community microgrid. Due to these problems with the existing power system, we must switch to a new power system that is both economical and environmentally beneficial while also being energy sustainable. One of the most useful solutions in this situation is the micro grid, which is economical, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. It fulfilled the three crucial societal objectives of economic efficiency, sustainability, and dependability. The Micro grid (MG) concept is a collection of micro sources and loads that work together as a single, controllable system to supply heat and electricity to the surrounding environment. A microgrid works in two modes: grid-connected and island mode, which require a control scheme for high power quality with reliability. Control methods can be divided in two ways, one is communication based and the other without communication. This paper is a short survey on key issues in microgrid with uncertainty in RES, energy management and power quality issues and discussed some control techniques for optimal operation of microgrid such as Droop control, v/f control in grid connected mode and output current regulation, output voltage regulation in island mode of microgrid.
