HVAC Design by Using Green Building Norms

Shadab Khan

Abstract

An HVAC system can be describing as a system which removes the heat from a desired space by pumping the heat from one place to another which result a cooling effect, also by lowering the temperature. HVAC work for a good indoor air quality by using latest filtering technologies. The major components of the HVAC system are, Heat exchanger, Evaporator coil, Thermostat, Refrigerant lines, Condensing unit, drain piping system, electrical conduits, vents, ductwork, CRC controller (Centralized remote control) these are the basic components used in HVAC system. The basement of building has different types of ventilation system such as duct and ductless ventilation. In ductless ventilation we use axial jet fans and tube axial fan for air vent at basement. The Design Engineer have to consider factors such as the application, requirements of space, amount of space available, the heat addition sources such as sunrays from windows and the total cost of the system. HVAC systems are classified as Air-Cooled Chiller System, Water-Cooled Chiller System, VRV System, and DX System. Humidity is controlled by adding or removing the moisture to the air. Humidifier is a device which is used to control the humidity of a space. For good indoor air quality, we use HEPA and MERV filters for air filtration. VRV system have some limitations that it cannot exceed the allowable height given by the manufacturer. But in chilled water system we can run the piping without any limitation of height. Chilled water system flow water throughout the building. In basement vent we get the proper position of jet fans by CFD interpretation.
