CFD Analysis on Pump as Turbine (PAT) for Small and Micro Hydropower Plant
Abstract
Abstract
Micro and small hydropower is an effective option for generating electricity, with low cost and impact on the environment. In this application the Pump-as-turbine (PAT) solution has promise due to its low purchase and maintenance costs. In this paper, the work over two designs of pump as turbine: 4 blade pump as turbine and 8 blade pump as turbine is studied and applied. The result revealed a better performance of the second design i.e 8 blade design pump as turbine.
Keywords: pump-as-turbine (PAT), Hydropower, Turbine blades
