Abstract

Safe and adequate drinking water plays vital for sustaining the quality of life in urban areas. There is a significance of proper management of water supply and its usage in this modernworld and industrialization. It is necessity of time that to replace the traditional and obsolete methods of surveying, planning, designing and analyzing the water distribution networks with accurate, speedy and computer-based software’s and methods. Application of WaterGEMS V8i software is adopted throughout the design of continuous 24×7 water supply distribution network of Devalie area of Aurangabad city in the Marathwada region, Maharashtra, India with considering projected population of 2050.  This use of WaterGEMS reduces cost, time, energy and labour charges. The use of computer applications such as google earth, bing map, ArchGIS and WaterGems advanced way to this study which resulted into many advantages. Digital Elevation Map (DEM) is used as background layer for elevationprofile in the GIS which eliminates tedious method of manual surveying by using total staion. Use Darwin Designer tool of WaterGEMS has optimized water distribution network system design gives economic design.
