Improvement Assessment of Traffic Operating Condition by Applying Common Traffic Management Tools Using Corsim Simulation

Tushar Chowhan

Abstract

Attempt has been made to improve the performance of Mirpur road (Russell Square to Aarong) by applying some common traffic management tools. The analyses were performed by corridor simulation (CORSIM) software. The whole network was built in CORSIM and calibrated with the field data. The performances are evaluated based on the average delay and speed at intersections and major roads. It has been found that the operating condition of Mirpur road can be improved by restricting on-street parking and road side non-motor activities, although the improvements are not very significant. Significant improvements can be achieved by restricting on-street parking and non-motor activities combined with optimum signal design at the intersections.
