A Review on Modification in PST Adaptor Plate Fixture for Improvement in the Productivity

Abstract


PST (Power steering) is a solid plate is used in 100 HP tractor as hydrostatic manifold as a mechanism of clutch, brake & forward reverse system. so PST adaptor plate has a Fixture is used a work holding device used in a production and machining in industries, a device fixed to the work table of a machine and locate the work in an exact position relative to the cutting tool. Fixturing, which involves using fixtures to secure work pieces during machining so that they can be transformed into parts that meet required design specifications, is a significant contributing factor towards achieving manufacturing flexibility [1]. Design of fixture is a highly complex process that depends on designer experience implicit knowledge. The current work emphasis on modification in current fixture design used for PST adaptor plate which is part of automobile hydraulic assembly. The main objective of current research work as are betterment in the form of higher locating and clamping rigidity with increase in cutting speed, feed and reducing machining, time which results in improvement in the production rate. The design modification includes usage of CAD based software for stress analysis and finally validation with actual fixture manufacturing
