Design and Analysis of Double Wishbone Suspension for Formula Student Car

By getting to know the fundamental ideas of suspension systems and mechanical procedure, this project aims to present an insight in to designing the car suspension and its mathematical model with the chassis and make foundation in vector theory was established and applied to the new method so as to work out the positions of all exterior elements relative to the chassis. Again when the geometry and layout of the chassis-suspension model resolved, consecutive procedure of the method was to design all the external elements and run every part of the elements through a stress analysis. Ground data of finite component analysis was needed so as to allow the acceptable forces and constraints to use to the new elements. Every designed elements were run through Solid Works Simulation and validated. Knowledge of composites, metals and ways of producing was conjointly needed for the planning of the wishbones, pushrods, uprights and bell cranks. Furthermore, an understanding of the sprung and un-sprung mass was required. Using calculations and MATLAB to run a spring-dampener simulation, an aftermarket shock absorber was selected for the suspension system.
